It is a breathtaking festival with a street parade and floats, through the streets of Funchal, exhibiting and perfuming the air with a multiplicity of floral species of the island. On the eve of the street procession, thousands of children get together in the town Municipal Square , to place a flower in the so-called “Wall of Hope”.
As part of these events, there are other activities like the making of carpets of flowers on the streets, awarding of prizes for the best-decorated shop window, the performance of traditional music groups, a flower exhibition at the “Ateneu Comercial”, classical music concerts and a number of variety shows. |
