If all goes as planned, Canadian-born jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall will be performing at Tecnopóplo, in Madeira , on March 27th of this year. Diana will be the third attraction in the third event of " Madeira - European Region 2004", after the successful performance of tenor Josep Carreras in January and of Dulce Pontes on February 14th.

Diana is one of the most famous jazz singers known today. This talented and beautiful jazz singer has already been in Lisbon and Porto twice before.

As for her past, she began studying music in Nanaimo , in the Canadian province of British Columbia . She attended classical piano lessons at the tender age of four and took part in her high school jazz bands. Meanwhile, her main teacher was her father who was a pianist and who had a large collection of records. In the mid 80's, Diana Krall won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music.

After living in Los Angeles and Toronto , she moved to New York in 1990 where she began playing and singing in a trio. After launching her first album "Stepping Out", with Justin Time records, Diana Krall signed a contract with GRP which launched her second record, "Only Trust Your Heart". Her third album was a tribute to Nat King Cole entitled "All For You".

In 1997, she released "Love Scenes", and one year later "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".

"When I Look In Your Eyes" was released in Verve, in 1999, a classical album with such themes as "Let's Face the Music and dance" and "I've Got you Under My Skin". Then, the album "The Look of Love" (2001) took top spot on the top national billboards The many years of hard work and dedication had finally paid off - her image was patented.
