World Championship Triathlon - 01 to 09

The city of Funchal is going to be home to the World Championship Triathlon, organised by the Municipality of Funchal , managed by “Theoria Lda.” under the technical management of Portugal and the International Triathlon Union.

On this year event world famous athletes will discuss a place for the Athens Olympiads. Around 3.000 athletes from 60 countries will take part.

Art, Creativity and Recreation Festival - 26 to 31

For the duration of one week, this festival will take on the special characteristic of involving handicapped performers and students, displaying their abilities in various musical, theatrical, dance and fashion shows including exhibitions of paintings and handicrafts.

Feast of the Onion

This feast will be held in Caniço and the main attraction is the procession and the auction connected to this feast.

Nature Conservation Week

The Regional Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources is promoting this initiative in the aim of presenting work carried out by various departments throughout the year. Within this perspective, various activities such as expositions, conferences, exchange of ideas and open-air activities will be held in Funchal town centre.

Funchal Book Fair

This book fair will take place in the Municipal Gardens , involving most of Madeira 's bookshops and some national publishers.

Festivals of the Sé

Towards the end of the month of May and beginning of June, the centre of Funchal takes on new life with the recreation of a typical weeklong Madeira Festival. The town's streets are decorated and visitors may taste the traditional local fares in open-air cafés and enjoy musical entertainment.
